Africa is suffering from Rift valley fever (RVF) and Vietnam has concerned about it and is attentive to those who come from Africa. According to Youth Newspaper, “Relevant agencies nationwide are keeping close surveillance on visitors coming from Africa, especially countries currently stricken by the disease like Kenya and Somalia, by air and sea, including measuring their body temperature when they check-in, and paying attention to symptoms they may have during their stay in Vietnam”.

Vietnam has not found any case yet, Rift Valley Fever (RVF), is a zoonosis (a disease which primarily affects animals, but occasionally causes disease in humans).

RVF is a type of virus which is first and foremost spread amongst animals by the bite of infected mosquitoes. Disease may be cruel amongst those People who become infected with RVF either by being bitten by infected mosquitoes, or through contact with infected animals.

At the Tan Son Nhat international airport in southern Ho Chi Minh City, passengers from the areas are to undergo body temperature measuring, the municipal Department of Health said, noting that those having RVF symptoms will be sent to the city- based Tropical Disease Hospital, newspaper reported.

Symptoms of RVF: People with Rift Valley virus infections typically have a flu-like illness with fever, weakness, back pain, dizziness, and weight loss.
