Allergy: red meat can trigger

Spring not just flowers, colors and scents; unluckily for many it is also synonymous with Allergy. In Italy are over 10 million cases registered for this situation and the figure is estimated to gain from year to year. The trouble especially affects youth people and children: 20% of children fewer than 14 years are allergic to mites, hair of animals and-needless to say-pollen. Some allergies are born with us and accompany us throughout life, others are disappearing, growing, and yet others, lastly, arise abruptly, without an obvious cause.
A learn conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Virginia appeared that at the back many sudden allergic reactions could hide the red meat. The blame would be a carbohydrate of Protein of meat pig and Beef: The alpha-gal, which is capable to trigger a powerful reaction of immunoglobulin E (IgE) in our body.

The researchers carefully explored 60 subjects who were affected by Allergies sudden and seemingly inexplicable by subjecting them to some allergy tests. Among the surveyed, 25 were tested positive of Alpha-gal, an increase of antibodies (immunoglobulin E) precise for this molecule.
Dr. Scott Commins, Head of research said: “These studies carry on to recommend that not merely IgE against carbohydrates have significant clinical implications in food allergies and anaphylaxis, but that the presence of these antibodies might be underestimated in terms of number of patients who are suffering.”
