October is an important month for prevention of many diseases. It is celebrated today World Sight Day. This year’s event is especially dedicated to elderly, more victims’ blindness and low vision. According to data collected in 2010 by WHO the world there are at least 265 million people with visual impairment (39 million of which were totally blind). It is Most of these; more than 65% exceeded the threshold of 50 years. Older people tend to let go of the eye or vision problems, to bear with resignation the darkness that has become ever more constant because of macular degeneration, cataracts But also glaucoma.

Nothing could be more wrong, because the eye health must be preserved exactly as the other parts of the body, at any age. And So everyone that today and for the rest of the month of October are offered eye exams free control (provided that you miss from oculist for more than a year). It must be booked by calling the toll of IAPB Italy Onlus 800-973489 from Monday to Friday from 10 to 13 and from 14 to 17. It is on the same binding site (IAPB International Agency Prevention Blindness), appointments and other important information.
