Psychosomatic Disorders
Posted in Disorders, General Health, Health, Healthy Ageing, Mental Health, Psychosomatic on 10 June 2007

Psychosomatic disorders are those physical illnesses which are expressed in somatic form or in bodily symptoms but such diseases have the underlying cause in mental arena. the tensions and anxieties are expressed in physical ways though the cause lies in psyche.

There are systems prone for psychosomatic disorders such systems are chardio-vascular system, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, cutanious system, metabolic disorders, sexual functions.
these systems are susceptible to disorders like hypertension, heart attachs, asthma, indigesion, hyperacidity, skin diseases,
diabetes, functional impotence etc.

To treat these disorders one needs to look into the psychological basis of these disorders. if anxiety is due to economic pressures it needs to be resolved. if cause is not treated and symptomatic treatment is continued the disorder is not cured but drug dependence may get developed.
