Cigarette smoking causes more damage in women


The Cigarette smoking cause greater damage, according to an Italian study, in women than men. The problems would even quintuple, unfortunately without any symptomatology and notice. In fact, women do not suffer any interference in the years before the menopause, thus avoiding any kind of prevention and quitting, the situation changes dramatically after menopause, during which there is a progression of diseases Cardiovascular.

The research was conducted by scholars of the department of pharmacological sciences at the University of Milan, led by Professor Elena Tremoli. Very important study, as to be presented these days in the Congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in Paris, which highlights the differences in risk factors in both sexes. The research was conducted on 1,694 men and 1,893 women from Finland, Italy, Sweden, Netherlands and France. The tests are based on the number of cigarettes smoked, the incidence of cardiovascular disease regardless of risk factors such as hypercholesterolemia or hypertension.

Considering all these data sets has led to the conclusion that damage caused by cigarette smoking in women is higher at least five times that in humans. It is according to statistics women living longer but in terms of health much worse. Also because, relative to men, can with great difficulty to take off vice and stop smoking worsening the situation. In Italy there are 5.2 million (19.7%) women who smoke, 5.9 million men, (23.9%), while in the world accounting for approximately 20% of over a billion smokers unfortunately data are bound to increase unless measures are taken.
